The appropriate collection, use, and disclosure of clients' personal information is imperative to confidentiality. Your trust is essential to us, and safeguarding your details holds a central place in our mission. Confidentiality is a core value in the therapy space and is an essential aspect of quality care. 

At Blackberry Counselling, we shall protect the confidentiality of all professionally acquired information by disclosing such information only when required or allowed by law to do so or when clients have consented to disclosure.

Limits to confidentiality include:
a. There is a substantial risk of serious imminent harm being inflicted by the client on themselves.
b. There is a substantial risk of serious imminent harm being inflicted by the client on another.
c. There is a need to protect an identifiable minor or vulnerable adult consistent with applicable law.
d. It is in accordance with any other lawful requirement to do so, such as a court subpoena

Any clinic notes generated are stored in an encrypted space that adheres to privacy laws. No other documentation will be produced about you or your confidential information unless it is requested by law. You will always be notified if a request for your information has been made, such as the rare situation of being court-ordered.

If you request that your confidential information be shared with any party for any purpose, you will be asked to sign a specific consent (Release of Information) for the release of that information, with details including exactly what information to share, to whom it is sent, and for how long you consent for the information exchange to occur.

You understand that as part of providing exemplary service, your practitioner or therapist may seek outside supervision to discuss how they approach the delivery of therapeutic and other services. While receiving supervision, your identifying details will always be changed.

Sessions will never be recorded without your express permission.
